SpiritHorse Therapeutic Riding Center hosts August Business After Hours

| August 15, 2018

SpiritHorseRidingCenterCheryl Cleaves and program volunteers were gracious hosts for a most unique Business After Hours. In addition to our members and guests, eight horses joined in the fun and networking. The horse barn at SpiritHorse was a great venue to learn about the therapeutic riding programs and enjoy the ambiance and aroma associated with the riding center.

CherylCleavesCheryl shared her story and reasons for founding the center adjacent to her home on Morgan Road in Canton. SpiritHorse Therapeutic Riding Center of Canton, Inc. has started up several programs: Disabilities, Children who are Victims of Abuse/Violence, Battered Women, and Youth After-Drug Rehab. Cheryl said the mission is “To Assist Each Child with Special Needs in Reaching Their Full Potential through Interaction with Horses”. They also strive to provide “A kind, rewarding home for older show horses and ponies, loving care, and proper burial on our ranch when they pass on.” Cheryl described the interactions with the children and adults that come to the center. Her descriptions brought tears of joy to many eyes in the audience. She was also very proud of the recently completed indoor riding building, which allows them to run the programs regardless of weather and all year long.

Members enjoyed talking with staff about their experiences at the center to the accompaniment of the occasional hoof stomp or whinny from the equine participants.
